NEW DELHI, SEPT 11: Russian President Vladimir Putin landed in New Delhi on Friday to commence a three-day official visit to India, where he will participate in the BRICS Summit and engage in high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on expanding bilateral trade, investment, and energy cooperation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed optimism regarding the engagement, looking forward to positive and constructive discussions. President Putin is leading a high-level delegation for the summit, marking his first in-person attendance at a BRICS gathering outside Russia since February 2022.
The capital is hosting a wide array of global leaders for the event. Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira was among the early arrivals, representing President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who remained in Brazil due to ongoing election campaign commitments.
Other prominent international leaders arriving for the summit include Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, and Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.
