NEW DELHI, SEPT 17: The Supreme Court agreed to hear a public interest litigation challenging the exclusion and notice issuance process affecting lakhs of voters under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Delhi.
A Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant scheduled the hearing for September 21 following submissions by senior counsel Prashant Bhushan on behalf of activists Anjali Bhardwaj and Amrita Johri. Petitioners stated that 47.56 lakh electors were excluded from the draft roll published on August 31 under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, or Duplicate category. They maintained that another 33.13 lakh voters received notices over unmapped entries or logical discrepancies without clear criteria being made public. Advocates affirmed that the petition seeks transparent disclosure of algorithmic parameters and a consolidated, searchable list of all affected voters.
