Chandigarh, Sept 29: Extensive details regarding the transnational criminal syndicate led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi have been released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, coinciding with the addition of associate Satinderjeet Singh, alias Goldy Brar, to the agency’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
US investigators affirmed that Bishnoi, currently held at Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat, cultivated a public persona as a deeply religious figure to recruit associates across India, the United States, and other regions. The agency maintained that despite a reported internal rift over operational matters, Goldy Brar served as a primary lieutenant coordinating North American operations and managing day-to-day syndicate activities.
Court documents unsealed in connection with Operation Hardball link the network to major violent incidents and organized crime, including the June 2023 killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, British Columbia. The indictment asserts that the directive was issued jointly by Bishnoi and Brar.
Federal prosecutors further maintained that the syndicate operated across multiple continents using smuggled communication devices from inside prison cells. Allegations detailed in the indictment include extortion targeting diaspora communities and the theft of approximately 520 kilograms of cocaine from rival organizations in the greater Los Angeles region between 2024 and 2025.
