New Delhi, Lucknow, Oct 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday released its official candidate list for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, signaling a major organizational shift by replacing all sitting members whose terms are concluding.
The ruling party has nominated eight candidates for the October 16 election, choosing not to re-nominate sitting parliamentarians, including Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and BL Verma.
The new candidate lineup includes state Cabinet Minister Dharampal Singh alongside former parliamentarian Priyanka Singh Rawat and organizational leader Shruti Gangwar.
Representatives affirmed that the nominations reflect a balanced representation across key social and regional demographics, featuring leaders such as Radhakant Ojha, head of the Prayagraj Bar Association, along with Prakash Pal, Vidyasagar Sonkar, Gopi Krishna Pandey, and Ram Pratap Singh Chauhan.
With ten seats falling vacant from the state, numerical strength indicates the party is positioned to secure eight seats comfortably.
Party officials maintained that the fresh list aligns with internal organizational strategies aimed at expanding leadership opportunities across the state ahead of future legislative engagements.
