SGGSWU Marks World Cerebral Palsy Day With Expert Discussion, Medical Camp

Specialists Address Early Diagnosis and Holistic Rehabilitation at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

Fatehgarh Sahib, Oct 7: The Department of Physiotherapy at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, conducted an educational awareness programme and special medical clinic on Tuesday to mark World Cerebral Palsy Day.

Palsy is a medical term that means paralysis or weakness in part of the body, often accompanied by shaking or a loss of feeling.

The initiative focused on spreading knowledge regarding early identification, proper management, and long-term therapeutic care for children affected by the neurological condition.

According to details, the event took place under the supervision of Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, alongside Dr. Supreet Bindra, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, who coordinated the day’s proceedings.

Pediatric specialist Dr. H.S. Raikhi led the sessions, delivering an expert address on early symptom recognition and the role of multidisciplinary healthcare teams.

During the clinical segment, Dr. Raikhi consulted with parents of affected children, offering medical evaluations and tailored advice regarding ongoing rehabilitation strategies.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Pritpal Singh commended the department’s effort, noting that community-focused medical initiatives play a crucial role in providing accessible healthcare for developmental disorders.

Dean of Academic Affairs Prof. S.S. Billing and Registrar Dr. Tejbir Singh also extended their appreciation to the faculty and organizers for aligning academic activities with public health outreach.
