NEW DELHI, Oct 7: The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and several party supporters following their unauthorized entry into the Akashvani Bhawan complex. The legal action comes a day after the senior leaders staged an eight-hour indoor sit-in during an INDIA bloc march towards the Election Commission headquarters.

According to police officials, the FIR was invoked after the leaders bypassed security perimeters and entered the public broadcasting facility without permission when their procession was halted near Parliament Street. Authorities stated that the protesters repeatedly refused requests to vacate the government building, insisting on continuing their demonstration inside the premises until permitted to meet election officials.

The legal developments follow Tuesday’s high-voltage standoff, which ended in the evening when police formally detained around 260 individuals, including the Gandhi siblings and 10 Members of Parliament. The detainees were transported to the New Police Lines at Kingsway Camp before being released late Tuesday night.
