CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is expanding its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh,’ by incorporating mandatory Triple H screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C across government de-addiction and rehabilitation facilities.
The measure aims to offer comprehensive healthcare to individuals undergoing addiction treatment while curbing the transmission of blood-borne diseases resulting from high-risk practices such as needle sharing.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that testing will now be directly embedded into the routine admission and rehabilitation process, replacing the previous system of holding periodic screening camps every two months.
This operational shift ensures continuous tracking, immediate diagnosis, and uninterrupted medical follow-ups, addressing previous gaps where individuals who missed temporary camps went untested for long stretches.
Advanced diagnostic facilities, including free testing at Aam Aadmi Clinics and high-precision Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) technology in blood banks, further support the state’s early detection strategy.
