Amritsar: A delegation of Aam Aadmi Party legislators submitted a formal memorandum to Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargajj on Monday, seeking administrative intervention against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Party representatives alleged that Delhi Police personnel violated religious protocols by entering the premises of Gurdwara Sri Bangla Sahib with shoes on and heads uncovered on October 10. AAP leaders asserted that the incident severely hurt community sentiments and urged the supreme temporal seat of Sikhism to summon central leadership to ensure accountability.

Addressing reporters in Amritsar, AAP MLA Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal maintained that sacred places of worship traditionally serve as shelters for all individuals and must be respected by law enforcement.

Meanwhile, MLA Manvinder Singh Giaspura termed October 10 a dark day for the Sikh community while questioning the silence of Shiromani Akali Dal leadership and SGPC officials regarding the police action. AAP MLA Jeevan Jyot Kaur affirmed that the delegation’s petition aims to safeguard the sanctity of religious institutions and prevent future administrative oversights.
