Lucknow, Oct 13: Citizens who step forward to assist road accident victims and ensure their timely transport to medical facilities in Uttar Pradesh are set to be honored under the updated Rahveer Yojana.

State transport authorities confirmed that the Central Government has disbursed ten lakh rupees to the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department to facilitate financial recognition for 27 individuals selected on the recommendation of District Road Safety Committees.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways initially launched the Good Samaritan rewards initiative in October 2021 before restructuring and renaming it as the Rahveer Yojana, raising individual rewards to twenty-five thousand rupees per beneficiary.

State officials maintained that the program aims to encourage prompt assistance during the crucial first hour following an accident, known as the golden hour. The allocated funds have been transferred directly to the designated Central Nodal Agency account to expedite payouts.
