Phillaur, Oct 16: Phillaur Police have apprehended three suspects for allegedly vandalizing a house wall with spray-painted slogans in Dosanjh Kalan, the native village of Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh.
The accused—identified as Lovepreet Singh, Pritpal Singh, and Shagandeep Singh of Moga district—were taken into custody on October 15 and presented before a Judicial Magistrate, who remanded them to two-day police custody for further questioning. Phillaur DSP Bharat Masih confirmed the operational updates and arrests during a press briefing on Friday.
The incident unfolded on October 7 ahead of the singer’s upcoming ‘Aura India Tour’, when masked perpetrators spray-painted pro-Khalistan slogans and the artist’s name across the exterior wall of a local residence. Investigators subsequently clarified that the targeted structure did not belong to Dosanjh, but rather to a neighboring resident located further down the same road.
The property owner, Mukhtiar, recounted waking up to the strong odor of spray paint before confronting masked individuals outside his home.
“I am a daily-wage worker. They damaged my wall and left. Diljit’s house is further down the road,” Mukhtiar stated, estimating the property damage between 5,000 and 7,000 rupees.
Law enforcement authorities anticipate that the ongoing interrogation will clarify the primary motivations behind the act and establish the full extent of the suspects’ involvement as formal legal proceedings continue.
