PHILLAUR — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that eradicating narcotics remains the administration’s primary objective, announcing complete operational autonomy for law enforcement agencies alongside enhanced mobility resources.

Reviewing the ongoing ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ initiative at the Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur, the Chief Minister approved 117 new vehicles for Deputy Superintendents of Police to intensify field operations while urging the public to transform the anti-drug drive into a statewide community movement.

Addressing senior police leadership and cabinet ministers, the Chief Minister urged central authorities to secure international borders and western coastal entry points rather than casting aspersions on Punjab’s anti-narcotics efforts.

“The fight against drugs is not just the responsibility of the police; it must become a people’s movement. We have given the police complete freedom to perform their duties without any recommendations or interference,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann maintained.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the state strategy combines strict law enforcement against traffickers with compassionate rehabilitation for affected individuals, supported by grassroots sports promotion like the ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ initiative.

Updating on separate state matters, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that investigators examining the recent murder of a social activist in Mansa will ensure all conspirators face strict legal consequences.
