NEW DELHI — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that Punjab will experience no power shortages after securing guarantees from Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for continuous electricity and coal deliveries to support the state’s agricultural production.
During high-level discussions in New Delhi, the Chief Minister emphasized that steady electricity remains vital for maintaining agricultural output, noting that Punjab is currently supplying 180 lakh metric tonnes of rice to the central food pool.
Addressing infrastructural and environmental regulatory hurdles, Mann raised concerns regarding recurrent National Green Tribunal notices affecting the Shahpur Kandi Dam project while confirming coordination with Coal India and the Jharkhand Government to streamline fuel supplies from the Pachhwara coal mines.
“Today, I held an important meeting with Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Ji and had a constructive discussion on issues concerning the uninterrupted supply of electricity and coal to Punjab. We apprised the Centre that Punjab contributes 180 lakh metric tonnes of rice to the national food pool, and uninterrupted power supply is essential to sustain this contribution,” Mann stated.
The Chief Minister also addressed ongoing legal investigations regarding historical sacrilege cases and criticized delays in securing official clearance for international travel intended to promote Markfed products in Paris and attract foreign investment from Japan.
