Mansa, Oct 18: A human rights organization has submitted a formal complaint to the Mansa District Magistrate and the District Child Protection Unit regarding a viral video featuring the two-year-old brother of late Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, popularly known as Sidhu Moosewala.

The complaint, sent by Lawyers for Human Rights International via speed post, relates to an incident during a hologram concert held at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Organizers and attendees noted that the toddler, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu—famously referred to as Nikka Sidhu—appeared on stage alongside his parents, Balkaur Singh and Charan Kaur, where he imitated his late elder brother’s signature thigh-slapping gesture before making a gun-like sign with his hand.

In its representation, the organization affirmed that an inquiry should be conducted into the exposure of young children to such gestures, advocating for counseling for the parents. They further maintained that interim directions should be considered to prevent the child from being encouraged to make pistol-like gestures at public or private gatherings.

Addressing the allegations, legal representatives associated with the family stated that no official notice or complaint had been received by the parents directly. The advocate asserted that decisions regarding the upbringing and public presence of the child remain the fundamental right of the parents, maintaining that the child was simply expressing affection and mirroring his late brother’s memory.
