Chandigarh, Oct 23: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh met with Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan to demand immediate action on the pending Post Graduate Institute of Horticulture Research and Education in Amritsar. Chugh strongly urged the Union Minister to ensure that the institute’s construction is completed on a war footing to safeguard the future of local agricultural communities.

Mentioning the central government’s efforts, Chugh stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided the institution as a transformative gift to grant fresh momentum to a horticultural revolution across the state. However, Chugh criticized local state officials, stating in his meeting that it is deeply unfortunate that due to the apathy of the Punjab government, such a major project remains incomplete to this day.

Chugh requested that the Union Ministry issue strict directives to state authorities to clear administrative bottlenecks immediately. He emphasized that there must be no compromise regarding the welfare of Punjab’s farmers and called for the project to be completed and made operational at the earliest possible timeline.
