Bathinda, Oct 26: A thirty-two-year-old daily wage earner was found dead with a syringe lodged in his arm in Bathinda city, marking another tragic incident linked to suspected drug abuse in the state. Volunteers from the Youth Welfare Society arrived at street number 29 in Paras Ram Nagar after receiving a call regarding an unconscious man, but discovered he had already passed away at the scene alongside his parked motorcycle.
Police officials identified the deceased as Ramesh Kumar, who had recently spent time at a drug rehabilitation facility in an attempt by his family to treat his addiction. He is survived by his elderly parents, wife, and two young daughters aged five and seven.
Law enforcement authorities at the Canal Colony police station registered a case against two suspects, identified as Buta Singh and Biru, based on confidential intelligence. Police officers noted that both named individuals carry prior criminal records and declared that search operations are active to secure their arrests.
The incident occurred shortly after anti-drug graffiti was discovered on a wall in nearby Doomwali village, where residents raised concerns regarding open drug sales. Follow-up search operations by police in Doomwali resulted in the recovery of contraband and the detention of several individuals, reflecting heightened scrutiny across Bathinda district.
