Chandigarh, Oct 26: The Aam Aadmi Party launched a sharp attack on the opposition following reports of a possible alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal ahead of the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. Taking to social media, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal reacted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim to rid Punjab of drugs, calling the prospect of doing so alongside Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia the “eighth wonder of the world”.

AAP leaders described the closeness between the two parties as pure political opportunism. State party chief Aman Arora asserted that despite earlier claims of contesting all seats independently, ground surveys showed both political groups losing public support, forcing them to alter their stance. He affirmed that voters remember the decade of Akali-BJP governance from 2007 to 2017 and would evaluate parties strictly on development and public welfare achievements.

Party spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal declared that the formal alliance or separation between SAD and BJP makes little difference to the state’s political outcome, maintaining that the public will return the Bhagwant Mann-led administration to power with a strong mandate.
