MANSA, Oct 29 — Amid ongoing public agitation following the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, the Punjab government initiated a major administrative reshuffle by replacing Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) across all three sub-divisions in Mansa district. Following the suspension of Mansa DSP Harjinder Singh Gill, the state administration posted new officers to oversee the Mansa, Sardulgarh, and Budhlada sub-divisions, while temporarily deploying three Superintendent of Police (SP) level officers to reinforce law and order.

According to an official notification issued by the Special DGP (Headquarters), Gurpartap Singh, previously serving as DSP Command Centre in Fatehgarh Sahib, has taken charge as DSP Sub-Division Mansa. Additionally, Harvinder Singh Sran, earlier posted in Bathinda Rural, has been designated as DSP Sardulgarh, while Sarabjit Singh Brar from Special Branch, Bathinda, assumes charge as DSP Budhlada. Meanwhile, former Budhlada DSP Sikander Singh has been transferred to Ladda Kothi in Sangrur.

The administrative action comes in the backdrop of widespread protests following the October 13 fatal shooting of Parvinder Singh Jhota. Jhota, a prominent local campaigner who led anti-drug drives and persuaded multiple village panchayats to pass anti-drug resolutions, was killed during a confrontation at a chemist shop in Mansa.

Authorities noted that the reassignments and temporary deployment of senior officers aim to ensure effective maintenance of public order, impartial investigation proceedings, and restored administrative stability across the district.
