HOSHIARPUR, November 9, 2024 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann campaigned in Hoshiarpur today, rallying support for AAP candidate Dr. Ishank Chabewal ahead of the upcoming by-elections.
During the campaign, CM Mann pointed his government’s achievements while taking aim at the Congress, BJP, and former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, accusing them of poor governance and mismanagement of state resources.
Addressing the crowd, CM Mann refuted claims of an empty state treasury, arguing that previous governments lacked clear intentions rather than financial resources.
“The treasury was never empty for public welfare; it was their intentions that were flawed,” he remarked, pointing to alleged mismanagement during Congress’s rule.
Mann said that four Punjab assembly seats will face by-elections on November 20, noting his recent visits to constituencies including Giddarbaha and Barnala. ”
Everywhere I went, people were eager to share how many government jobs were provided in their villages,” he said, underscoring his administration’s focus on employment.
Mann claimed that electricity bills have significantly decreased, with uninterrupted power supply and efforts to acquire thermal plants underway.
“The same poles and wires are there; it’s the intent of the government that has changed,” he stated, contrasting this with the previous Congress-led administration, which he accused of neglecting infrastructure and job creation.
He criticized the past government for installing toll plazas without investing in schools, colleges, or roads.
Mann also attacked the Congress over their recent electoral performance, asserting that they suffered a heavy defeat in previous by-elections. He dismissed the notion of an empty treasury, adding that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal remains grounded, engaging directly with people on Delhi’s streets.
“In the past, BJP and Congress leaders would secure wins over the phone, but the people have changed that dynamic,” Mann said, predicting another major loss for the Congress in the upcoming vote.
