Fog, Cold Weather Sets in Across Punjab

by The_unmuteenglish

Chandigarh, November 9, 2024 — Winter has begun to settle in across Punjab as temperatures drop, bringing chilly mornings and evenings.

The Meteorological Department predicts that light rain could follow after November 12, likely intensifying the cold.

Current temperatures hover around 29 degrees Celsius during the day, with night temperatures dropping to about 15.5 degrees.

Residents have started donning winter clothing, especially in rural areas where fog has already set in.

Although the sun shines during the day, a combination of clouds and smoke creates a hazy atmosphere.

Air quality has deteriorated as stubble burning cases rise, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Jalandhar reaching 174. Light winds, blowing at speeds between 3 to 5 km/h, are failing to disperse the pollution.

Forecasters suggest that the cold may become more pronounced by the last week of November.
