Chandigarh, 25 December 2024: An ambulance transporting the bodies of three suspected Khalistan Zindabad Force terrorists, killed in a joint police encounter, was struck by an unidentified vehicle on the Rampur bypass Tuesday night, authorities confirmed.

The collision, which occurred during the journey from Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit to Punjab, left the ambulance damaged but caused no injuries, said Rampur Superintendent of Police Vidyasagar Mishra. “The bodies were immediately transferred to another vehicle to continue the journey,” Mishra added.

Local police responded swiftly upon learning of the incident. “After arriving at the site, our team facilitated the safe transfer of the bodies to a new ambulance,” Mishra noted.

The three men were killed in an encounter in Puranpur, Pilibhit, on Monday. According to officials, they were allegedly involved in a grenade attack on a police post in Gurdaspur, Punjab.

The operation was a coordinated effort by Punjab Police and Uttar Pradesh Police to apprehend individuals believed to be linked to the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force. Investigation into the accident involving the ambulance is ongoing.
