Chandigarh: ‘No Flying Zone’ for Drones Ahead of Republic Day

Chandigarh, 9 January 2025: In preparation for Republic Day celebrations on January 26, the Chandigarh Administration has announced strict security measures, including a ban on drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across the city.

District Magistrate Nishant Kumar Yadav issued the order designating Chandigarh as a ‘No Flying Zone’ for drones from January 17 to January 26, 2025.

The directive prohibits flying any type of drone or UAV during this period to ensure the safety of VVIPs and secure Republic Day events.

“This measure is essential to maintain security and avoid any potential threats during the celebrations,” stated the administration.

The ban comes as part of extensive preparations to ensure a safe and smooth Republic Day celebration in the Union Territory.
