January 11, 2025: A major accident at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh resulted in the collapse of a lintel under construction, burying several workers under debris.
Three fatalities have been confirmed, with many more feared dead.
The incident occurred during beautification work at the station, where the lintel on the second floor suddenly gave way. Around 35 workers are believed to be trapped. Police and rescue teams have reached the scene, and relief efforts are in full swing.
CM Yogi Adityanath Takes Swift Action
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed concern and directed officials to expedite rescue operations.
He instructed authorities to provide prompt medical care to the injured and extended his wishes for their speedy recovery.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse as relief teams work tirelessly to uncover those trapped beneath the debris.
