Chandigarh, January 27 –Police have uncovered the chilling confession of Gagandeep Singh, a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who admitted to murdering 28-year-old Kaashish Gahalawat in Chandigarh’s Sector 23.

Singh, arrested in a raid on Friday in Mohali’s Badmajra village, reportedly suspected the victim of being a police informer.

According to officials, Gagandeep, implicated in 21 FIRs, believed Kaashish had ties with certain CIA officials, which fueled his paranoia. “Preliminary evidence and his confession point to a planned murder,” an investigator stated.

The body was found concealed under a bed on the second floor of a Sector 23-D house following a tip-off.

Inspector Ashok Kumar, SHO of the Sector 11 Crime Branch, detailed how officers acted promptly after receiving the report.

“The room was locked, so we had to break the lock to enter. We found the victim’s body hidden beneath a bed, indicating an attempt to mislead authorities,” Kumar said.

An FIR under Sections 103 and 3(5) of the BNS was subsequently registered at the Sector 17 police station.

Singh’s arrest followed a joint operation by Chandigarh and Mohali police. During the Friday raid, Gagandeep fired at officers but was subdued. Mohali police charged him under Sections 132, 221, and 109 of the BNS and Arms Act for the shootout.

Investigations have also linked Singh to a January 17 firing incident in Sector 38, where police were monitoring a known drug peddler’s residence.

Officials revealed that Singh had visited Bala, a 64-year-old drug dealer, prior to the murder.

Additional barricades were installed in the area after reports of his movements, but a Ludhiana man at the same checkpost fired four shots when stopped by police.

Gagandeep Singh remains in police custody as authorities probe deeper into his activities and connections to Lawrence Bishnoi’s network.
