Chandigarh, February 18, 2025 – G. Nageswara Rao, IPS, assumed the role of Chief Director at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) today, pledging to enforce a zero-tolerance approach toward corruption.
The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) took charge at Vigilance Bhawan, SAS Nagar, and reaffirmed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to a corruption-free Punjab.
Rao stressed the importance of transparency and efficiency in governance, promising swift, thorough investigations into all corruption cases and Vigilance Enquiries (VEs). “We will strictly enforce the zero-tolerance policy to eliminate corruption from all government departments,” Rao declared.
He also underlined that all cases would be pursued rigorously in court to ensure strict punishment for those found guilty.
Issuing a stern warning, Rao stated, “No official or officer of the Vigilance Bureau will be spared if found involved in corrupt practices.”
He called for increased vigilance and proactivity from field officers in their efforts to root out corruption.
Accentuating the importance of public involvement, Rao appealed to citizens to cooperate with the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line in identifying and reporting corrupt activities, fostering a more accountable system.
To assess the progress of vigilance activities, Rao scheduled a meeting for February 19 with all VB SSPs at SAS Nagar to review pending cases and inquiries.
