Dubai/Chandigarh, March 4 — Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja grabbed two quick wickets in the middle overs, helping India restrict Australia to 213 for 6 in 40 overs during their Champions Trophy semifinal in Dubai on Tuesday.
Jadeja dismissed Marnus Labuschagne (29) and Josh Inglis (11), slowing Australia’s momentum. Earlier, Mohammed Shami bowled out captain Steve Smith, while Axar Patel sent back Glenn Maxwell.
Shami struck in the third over to remove Cooper Connolly (0), and Varun Chakravarthy dismissed the aggressive Travis Head (39) in the ninth over.
Indian players took the field wearing black armbands to honor domestic cricket legend Padmakar Shivalkar, who passed away in Mumbai on Monday at 84.
Smith won the toss and chose to bat. Australia made two changes, bringing in Connolly for the injured Matthew Short and Tanveer Sangha for Spencer Johnson. India retained their playing XI.
