Chandigarh, Oct 3: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu launched a sharp offensive on Friday against the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leadership, seeking answers over the alleged long-term stay of a woman from Bahrain at guesthouse facilities in Sri Anandpur Sahib and Amritsar.

Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Pannu questioned how a single woman was allocated accommodation in an SGPC sarai for eight months in clear violation of established management protocols. He accused senior Akali leadership, including party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, of maintaining silence regarding financial transactions and harassment allegations linked to senior office-bearers. Pannu further criticized the internal inquiry committee constituted by the SGPC, labeling it inadequate and demanding that an independent panel headed by a retired Sikh judge or IPS officer conduct a thorough investigation alongside the Punjab Police.

SGPC and SAD representatives have maintained that internal inquiry mechanisms are actively functioning, dismissing allegations of a cover-up while requesting a central agency review of the entire episode.
