Chandigarh, Oct 6: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora sharply criticized internal factionalism within the Congress party on Monday, claiming its central leadership has disappointed grassroots workers by choosing compromise over merit. Speaking at a press conference in Sangrur, Arora extended congratulations to newly appointed Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Pargat Singh, acknowledging his accomplishments as an Olympian, former police officer, and three-time MLA, while noting that recent developments illustrate ongoing political instability within the party.

Arora questioned the hasty removal of former state chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring after four and a half years of service and pointed out that Rahul Gandhi had not yet met Pargat Singh days after his appointment. He added that bypassing leaders like Vijay Inder Singla overlooked the legitimate political aspirations of the Sangrur and Malwa regions.

Turning to state governance, Arora emphasized the Bhagwant Mann administration’s firm stance against illegal narcotics. He highlighted the active participation of around 15,000 Village and Ward Defence Committees working alongside law enforcement to eradicate drug networks at the grassroots level.

“A temporary compromise between two factions, intended merely to get through the next few months, cannot provide a political party with a clear direction,” asserted Aman Arora.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s resolve to back sarpanches and community leaders who face resistance while combating drug abuse in their localities.

“The Bhagwant Mann Government has chosen the path of rooting out drugs,” stated Aman Arora, maintaining that public unity and active participation remain crucial to freeing Punjab from the scourge of drugs.
