Chandigarh, April 8: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday condemned Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa for allegedly referring to the district of Sangrur as a land that produces ‘termites.’ Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Dhaliwal asserted that the remark is an insult to the revolutionary history of a region that birthed iconic patriots like Shaheed Udham Singh and Sewa Singh Thikriwala.

The AAP leader maintained that Bajwa’s comments reflect a regressive mindset and a profound ignorance of the state’s heritage. Dhaliwal questioned whether Bajwa considered prominent Congress figures from the region, including former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and late leader Sant Ram Singla, to be part of his derogatory description. He stated that the residents of Sangrur, who led both the freedom struggle and the recent farmers’ movement, deserve an immediate and unconditional apology.

“Calling the land of martyrs ‘termite-infested’ is extremely shameful,” Dhaliwal affirmed. “The real ‘termite’ is the Congress party, which has looted the country and Punjab for 75 years through scams and corruption.”

Dhaliwal further declared that the political wave which originated in Sangrur has already dismantled traditional strongholds of the Badal and Amarinder Singh families. He asserted that this same movement would sweep through Bajwa’s own constituency of Qadian in the 2027 elections. The spokesperson maintained that the public would no longer tolerate the politics of “loot and oppression” and predicted that AAP would expand its legislative majority in the next assembly cycle.
