Chandigarh, November 20, 2024: Following Madhya Pradesh, Haryana has announced a tax exemption for the film The Sabarmati Report. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal watched the film with state ministers and MLAs at DT Mall, Chandigarh IT Park, last evening before making the announcement.

The film, based on the 2002 Sabarmati Express train incident in Godhra, Gujarat, was praised by the Chief Minister for its sensitive portrayal of the tragedy. He said it highlights an important truth about the incident while paying tribute to the 59 innocent victims, including men, women, and children.

Saini remarked, “The filmmaker has handled this issue with great sensitivity and dignity, inspiring introspection. Through this film, the victims have been given a voice, and the truth of the incident has been presented to the nation, which was largely unaware of it.”

The tax exemption follows a similar decision by the Madhya Pradesh government earlier, indicating growing support for the film in northern states.
