AMRITSAR, AUGUST 19: In a major crackdown on cross-border organized crime, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police busted three distinct drug and illegal arms supply modules, arresting nine individuals across separate tactical operations.

Police teams seized eight illegal pistols, four live cartridges, 8.536 kg of heroin, and ₹12.95 lakh in suspected drug money. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed the breakthroughs on social media platform X, stating that the intelligence-led drives were conducted independently by specialized units of the Commissionerate Police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested operatives maintained direct communication with foreign-based handlers to receive contraband and weapons before distributing them to local criminal gangs. The recoveries have yielded critical operational leads to map out the broader cross-border smuggling network.

The DGP stated that law enforcement registered three separate First Information Reports at the Cantonment and Chheharta police stations. Investigating teams are actively tracing both backward and forward linkages to pinpoint key suppliers, international handlers, and local conduits.
