Amritsar, March 29: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police intercepted a cache of illegal weapons during a security operation, uncovering a suspected connection to gangster Gurpreet Singh, also known as Goldy Dhillon. The seizure included two 9 mm sub-machine guns and an empty magazine discovered during a routine naka-bandi.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the weapons were found when officers noticed suspicious movement and moved to intercept the consignment. Although the suspects managed to flee the scene, a large-scale search operation is currently underway to track them down.
Preliminary inquiries suggested that the recovered firearms were intended for use in various criminal and anti-national activities throughout Punjab. Officials noted that the interception represents a significant disruption to local smuggling networks.
An FIR was registered at the Chheharta police station under the provisions of the Arms Act. Investigators declared that they are working to identify the individuals involved in the transport of the weapons and to uncover the broader criminal network supporting the racket.
Authorities affirmed that the investigation is active and focused on apprehending the absconding suspects. They maintained that security measures have been tightened across the region to prevent further attempts at moving illegal arms.
