Chandigarh/Amritsar, March 28: Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced Saturday that a premier hospitality project is set to transform the tourism landscape in Amritsar. The Oberoi Group and Springedge Solutions Pvt. Ltd. have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a 150-room hotel under the Trident brand, marking a ₹400 crore investment in the holy city.
The agreement was finalized in the presence of senior government officials and representatives from both organizations. Located on the Amritsar–Tarn Taran Road, the three-acre site sits approximately three kilometers from the Darbar Sahib This development represents the first Greenfield project of this magnitude for the Trident brand within Punjab.
“The upcoming 150-room project will be developed under the Trident brand of the Oberoi Group,” Arora stated during the announcement. He noted that the venture is expected to generate employment for approximately 350 individuals, providing a significant boost to local economic activity.
The state government, through Invest Punjab, facilitated the collaboration over the past 18 months. Arora maintained that this project is part of a broader surge in industrial momentum, with the state attracting a record ₹59,448 crore in investments during the 2025–26 period. Construction is scheduled to commence in July 2026, with an anticipated completion date of March 2029.
The Minister affirmed that Punjab is increasingly recognized as a top destination for premium tourism and hospitality investments. He declared that the state’s proactive policies continue to build investor confidence, resulting in a total investment of over ₹1.59 lakh crore since April 2022.
