Chandigarh, 20 November 2024: Former Punjab BJP leader Anil Joshi, who joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in 2021, has resigned from the party’s primary membership and all positions.
Joshi announced his decision in a resignation letter, mentioning dissatisfaction with the party’s internal functioning. A former BJP leader, Joshi was expelled by his previous party for six years after opposing the contentious agricultural laws and supporting farmers’ protests in Punjab and Haryana.
In his statement, Joshi said he joined SAD under the influence of the late Parkash Singh Badal but recent developments within the party compelled him to step down after careful consideration.
The resignation marks another setback for Akali Dal, already grappling with political challenges in Punjab.
