Amritsar, 13 February 2025: ASI Gurnam Singh accused his own colleagues at Sadar police station of assaulting him during duty, stating that his uniform was torn in the incident.

He alleged that SHO Harinder Singh, along with his official and private gunmen, attacked him, an incident reportedly captured on the station’s CCTV.

Accompanied by Bahujan Samaj Party leaders and workers, Singh staged a protest at the police station, demanding action against the SHO.

He said that he was assigned duty at a checkpoint by the station chief despite already being posted as duty in-charge.

When he questioned the decision, he claimed, gunmen assaulted him and tore his uniform.

Singh further alleged that the SHO instructed a doctor to falsely report that he was intoxicated, but the doctor refused. His son also demanded justice, calling for action against those responsible.

SHO Denies Allegations

SHO Harinder Singh dismissed the claims, stating that ASI Gurnam Singh had been assigned duty but failed to perform his responsibilities.

He said no officer or personnel assaulted Singh, terming the allegations false.
