Amritsar, November 7, 2024: A boy who was attacked on Diwali night has succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
Shubham, a 23-year-old who worked at a local goldsmith’s shop, was fatally attacked by a group of youths with sharp weapons. He was seriously injured in the assault and died during treatment on the night of November 6.
According to Shubham’s mother and brother, he had gone to Lala Wali street to buy burgers when he witnessed a group of youths beating another boy.
When Shubham attempted to intervene, the attackers turned on him, stabbing him with sharp weapons, she said.
The family claimed that one of the suspects was apprehended and handed over to the police, but he was later released, with no further action taken by authorities.
Kotwali Police Station SHO Harshandeep Singh confirmed that police had visited the scene and would take the family’s statement before proceeding with appropriate action.
