New Delhi, Oct 10: Security personnel detained YouTuber Dhruv Rathee at his residence in the Kendriya Vihar society of Gurugram on Saturday morning following discussions regarding an upcoming demonstration in New Delhi. Officials stated that police teams from both Gurugram and Delhi had previously approached the residence to advise against traveling to the capital for the planned gathering organized by the CJP at Jantar Mantar.
Law enforcement officials maintained that the individual was held after declining requests to comply with travel restrictions implemented for the area. A senior Gurugram police representative stated that authorities preferred voluntary compliance to maintain public order, but felt compelled to act when transit plans remained unchanged. Additional personnel remain deployed at the residence pending further instructions from district authorities.
The security operations across Delhi expanded significantly prior to the planned events, with thousands of police and central armed forces personnel deployed alongside barricades and checkpoint installations. Organizers of the CJP demonstration stated that the gathering intended to address concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and called for official accountability. Representatives from the group voiced strong opposition to the police actions on social media platforms, demanding the immediate release of detained participants and supporters.
