Jalandhar, 21 February 2025 — Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested a shooter affiliated with the Bambiha gang and recovered two pistols from his possession, officials said Thursday.
The accused, identified as Aman Kumar of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Jalandhar. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said a police team intercepted him near Liddaran village based on specific intelligence, recovering two .30-bore pistols and 10 cartridges.
“During interrogation, he admitted links to Bambiha gang leader Harmandar Singh, currently lodged in Delhi’s Rohini jail,” the SSP said.
Police records show Kumar has a history of serious offenses, including a 2018 sexual assault case in Rama Mandi and a 2022 attempted murder and riot case in Kapurthala, where illegal weapons were seized.
Investigators found he was working under the directives of designated terrorist Arsh Dalla. “The accused revealed the weapons were meant for a planned attempt to free Harmandar Singh during a court appearance in Jalandhar,” Khakh said.
