New Delhi, 15 November 2024: India will push Canada to extradite gangster Arshdeep Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, identified as the current leader of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force, the Ministry of External Affairs announced Thursday.
The ministry stated on X that an Ontario court has scheduled a hearing on India’s extradition request for Dalla. It also noted that separate requests had been sent to Canadian authorities to verify financial details linked to Dalla, as shared last year.
Labeling Dalla a “proclaimed offender,” the ministry revealed he faces over 50 cases involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, and terrorism, including terror financing. The Indian government designated him a terrorist in January last year, with multiple charges also filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Indian authorities believe Dalla assumed leadership of the Khalistan Tiger Force after Hardeep Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, was fatally shot in June 2023. Nijjar’s killing sparked diplomatic tensions, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleging—without evidence—that Indian agents were involved.
Despite India’s earlier requests for extradition, Canada has declined to hand over Dalla.
