Faridkot, March 14 —A shooter linked to the Davinder Bambiha gang was arrested after an encounter near Ghugiana village in Faridkot, officials said Friday.
Identified as Manpreet Singh alias Mani, a resident of Talwandi Bhangeria in Moga, the accused was wanted in multiple cases related to murder and illegal arms, said Faridkot SSP Pragya Jain.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and CIA Jaito set up a checkpoint in the area.
“When the accused, who was on a motorcycle, was signaled to stop, he opened fire at the police team,” Jain said. As he tried to flee, his motorcycle slipped, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire.
“He was injured in retaliatory fire and taken into custody,” she added.
Police recovered a .30-bore pistol and four live cartridges from him.
