New Delhi, 2 December 2024 – Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman may introduce the Banking Laws Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha today as the winter session of Parliament enters its fifth day.
The session, which began on November 25, has witnessed repeated disruptions, limiting the functioning of both houses to an average of 10 minutes per day.
On November 29, opposition parties raised issues related to Adani and Sambhal, leading to chaos in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Despite Speaker Om Birla’s repeated appeals for order, the uproar persisted.
Birla said that “consent-disagreement is the strength of democracy” and urged members to ensure the House functions effectively, reflecting the concerns of the nation.
With proceedings totaling only 40 minutes over four days, public attention remains on whether today’s session will see productive debate or continue the trend of disruptions.
