CHANDIGARH, MAY 8: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana has announced a no-work day across all courts in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on May 9.

Bar Council chairman Rakesh Gupta said the step was taken due to growing safety concerns for litigants, advocates, court staff, and the general public.

District Bar Association, Chandigarh, has also echoed the decision. “Considering the prevailing situation, we have decided to observe a no-work day in the district courts on Friday,” said Ashok Chauhan, president of the association.
