CHANDIGARH, May 7 — Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the deaths of four civilians, including a raagi singh, in a shelling incident at a Gurdwara Sahib in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir near the Line of Control (LOC) and called the act Barbaric.
The deceased have been identified as Bhai Amrik Singh, Amarjit Singh, Ranjit Singh, and Ruby Kaur. The victims were reportedly inside the Gurdwara when it came under bombardment from across the border.
Calling the act “barbaric,” Mann condemned Pakistan for targeting innocent civilians at a place of worship.
“It is unfortunate that people offering prayers for the wellbeing of all were made victims of such a ghastly act,” he said.
“This is a painful moment for all of us,” Mann added.
“The loss of these lives—devoted to peace and faith—is a tragedy beyond words.”
Offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister prayed for strength to bear the irreparable loss and peace for the departed souls.
“May the Almighty grant eternal peace to those who lost their lives and courage to their loved ones in this hour of grief,” he said.
