Mohali, 21 January 2025: Mataur police have registered a case against five individuals, including a barber, for allegedly stabbing a former colleague twice in the Phase-7 market, following an argument at a birthday party. The incident occurred a day after the altercation.
According to police, the primary accused, identified as Sahil, also a barber in a Phase-7 salon, was joined by four unidentified accomplices in the attack.
The victim, Shiva, originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Madanpura, stated that he and Sahil had previously worked together at a Phase-5 salon before Sahil moved to another workplace.
Shiva shared with investigators that on January 16, he had invited Sahil to his home for a birthday celebration, where an argument broke out.
“Sahil called me the next evening around 8 p.m. and asked to meet near his salon. While I was waiting, he arrived with others and confronted me. One of the men stabbed me near my waist, and Sahil stabbed me in the stomach with a sharp-edged weapon. Hearing my screams, they fled the scene,” Shiva recounted.
Shiva’s cousin rushed him to Phase-6 Civil Hospital, but he was later referred to GMCH-32, where he is receiving treatment.
The accused face charges under Sections 125(2), 118(1), 126(2), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS, police confirmed. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the accomplices.
