Presiding over a high-level emergency review meeting with District Magistrates and senior police officials via video conferencing, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit instructed field officers to complete all rescue and relief preparations without delay. He affirmed that while the administration is fully alert and equipped with necessary emergency resources, citizens should remain prepared, follow official advisories, and refrain from paying attention to unverified rumors.
The administrative directives mandate continuous monitoring of river water levels, embankments, bridges, and vulnerable low-lying areas, particularly in West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Muzaffarpur, and Vaishali. Officials have been tasked with preparing localized evacuation blueprints and ensuring the immediate operational readiness of relief shelters and community kitchens.
The sudden environmental crisis stems from heavy flooding in central Nepal districts bordering Tibet, which claimed four lives, damaged infrastructure, and disrupted over a dozen hydropower installations. In response to the downstream surge, state authorities have dispatched National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force units to key districts, while directing engineers to open all gates at the Valmikinagar Barrage to regulate incoming water flows.
