Anantnag, Oct 8 : A black bear was successfully rescued after being trapped in an installed cage at Andoo Nowgam area by the Wildlife Control Room Achabal, officials said.
Following reports of the bear’s presence in the area, the Wildlife Department team reached the location and safely secured the animal in a cage installed for the purpose.
After completing the necessary rescue procedures, the black bear was transported away from the populated area and released safely into its natural habitat.
The timely intervention by the Wildlife Control Room Achabal helped prevent any possible human-animal conflict and ensured the safe handling of the wild animal.
Officials said that such rescue operations are undertaken to protect both wildlife and local residents, particularly in areas where wild animals occasionally enter human settlements in search of food or shelter.
The department has also urged residents to avoid approaching or provoking wild animals and to immediately inform the concerned Wildlife Department authorities whenever such animals are spotted near residential areas.
