Panchkula, Dec 8: Booth Level Officers in Panchkula have begun a door-to-door verification drive to match present voters with entries from the 2002 electoral rolls as part of preparations for the upcoming special intensive revision of voter lists.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma said the exercise is essential to ensure accurate and error-free rolls across both Assembly segments. “This door-to-door verification is a critical pre-activity. We want clean lists and correct entries,” he said.
Officials are cross-checking voters who do not appear in the 2002 records but have parents or grandparents who were registered at the time. BLOs have been tasked with collecting information directly from households. So far, details of about 1,02,000 current voters have been matched with the old data.
Sharma urged residents to cooperate fully and provide precise information when officials visit. He said those unsure about their or their family’s earlier registration can check the ‘Search your name in last SIR’ option on the Election Commission of India’s website, which also provides Assembly segment details, polling station numbers and serial numbers. “Accurate information will help us prepare error-free lists and ensure every eligible dependent is registered,” he added.
