Kathua, Jan 7: An exchange of fire broke out between militants and security forces in the Kamadh Nullah area of Kathua district on Wednesday, officials said.
A senior police officer said the Special Operations Group (SOG) had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific intelligence inputs. “During the operation, militants opened fire on the security personnel, after which the forces retaliated,” the officer said.
Officials said the operation was continuing and further details would be shared as they become available.
