Tarn Taran, July 18: A regional social security worker and her son face legal charges after state inspectors intercepted an attempt to re-route institutional welfare funds into a personal bank account. The incident involved the Mavan-Dhian Satkar Scheme, a prominent state welfare program designed to provide direct financial security to adult women. Administrative reviews successfully halted the transactions at the digital verification stage before any state funds were disbursed.

The administrative discrepancy came to light during a standard pre-payment audit conducted at the departmental headquarters in Chandigarh. Investigators determined that the online profiles of sixty-two separate female applicants had been modified to reflect a single private account routing number, which belonged to the worker’s son.

Child Development Project Officer Navekta Kuvra initiated the formal legal process by filing a detailed report with local law enforcement at the Goindwal Sahib police station. The complaint stated that the designated Anganwadi worker from Bhail Dhaewala village had delegated data-entry tasks to her son, Gurbaj Singh, who allegedly adjusted the files to divert the incoming state allowances.

Local police personnel confirmed that a case has been officially registered against both individuals under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering acts of systemic deception and unauthorized data manipulation.

Administrative officials affirmed that all genuine applicants remains fully protected under the oversight mechanism.

“The irregularity was detected during verification by officials at the Chandigarh headquarters,” Kuvra stated. “As a result, payments linked to all 62 beneficiaries were withheld.”

The department maintained that the intended recipients would face no loss of access to their designated allowances. Officials asserted that the necessary documentation adjustments are currently underway, and the direct financial benefits will be transferred securely to the verified personal bank accounts of the women once the corrections are complete.
