Chandigarh, August 25: Chandigarh witnessed another case of street crime on Saturday morning when two motorcycle-borne assailants snatched a gold chain from a 40-year-old homemaker near Kajheri Chowk in Sector 42.

The complainant, Neha Kher of Sector 42-C, said the incident took place around 7:40 am while she was walking along the cycling track from Kajheri Chowk toward the 42/43 small chowk. “Two men on a black motorcycle came from behind and snatched my gold chain. In the scuffle, my locket fell on the spot,” she told police in her statement.

Shaken by the ordeal, Neha said she could not react immediately and chose to return home before informing authorities. “I was in complete shock and unable to respond at that time. I did not note the registration number of the motorcycle. However, I can identify the culprits if they come in front of me,” she added.

Later, after narrating the incident to her husband, the couple approached Police Station-36 to lodge a formal complaint.

Based on her statement, a case has been registered under sections 304(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against two unidentified men. Police noted that this was the fifth snatching incident reported in the city since the beginning of August.
