Chandigarh, May 31: As part of the second civil defence exercise ‘Operation Shield’, a drone swarm attack simulation was conducted at the Air Force Station, triggering a full-scale emergency response involving evacuation, triage, and medical aid.

Upon receiving the simulated threat, the Station Commander alerted the civil administration, prompting the swift mobilisation of the Health Department, Fire Services, and Civil Defence teams. The injured were treated on-site, with critical cases sent to nearby hospitals, while others were safely evacuated to Sector 47 Community Centre, where medical check-ups and treatment were provided.

The drill also included a coordinated 10-minute blackout from 8:00 to 8:10 pm, observed by residents of Kishangarh and IT Park. Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav commended the community’s discipline and unity, stating that the exercise showcased seamless coordination between departments and citizens.

The exercise aimed to assess and strengthen emergency preparedness across civil and defence agencies in the face of modern threats like drone attacks.
